Semillero (Seedbed)

Semillero 2023 open call
All ages emerging artists

21.07.23 31.08.23

Until August 31st, the call for a new edition of SEMILLERO is open. Semillero (Seedbed) is a free program offered by Fundación ace that provides networking and visibility opportunities to emerging artists of all ages.

At Fundación ace, we are eager to get to know your artistic projects and help you share them with others. We invite you to exhibit in our space and contribute to the dissemination of your work. Through the Semillero program, we encourage emerging artists from Argentina as well as foreign artists legally residing in Argentina (with DNI) to participate with completed projects ready for exhibition. We are interested in various formats of artwork: works on paper, multiple art forms (engraving, photography, digital media, artist’s book, design, cutouts, etc.), video, sound, performance, AI, hybrids, and trans- and interdisciplinary works.

Semillero is a nurturing program aimed at providing visibility to local artists (or foreign artists residing in Argentina), curators, and researchers. Within this framework, there are no limitations in terms of language, media, or techniques. On the contrary, we are interested in finished works, series, and projects that seek to explore inter or transdisciplinary themes, navigating uncharted waters and exploring territories that are difficult to define.

Selected artists will receive:
• An individual exhibition as part of a joint opening with international artists in residence at ‘ace.
• Assistance in installation and lighting, as well as the provision of projection and sound equipment.
• Public inauguration of the exhibition in ´aceNITE format.
• An individual page on our website, within the Activities—Semillero section.
• Promotion of the artwork(s) through our social media channels.
• Inclusion in our newsletter, announcing the selection of artists and their work, which allows for diverse reception and the opportunity to expand local and international networks.

Participation in this open call is free. You can apply by completing the form, which you will find by clicking the orange button on the right side of the screen (if you are on your computer) or at the end (if you open it on your phone).

To apply, please have an image of the front and back of your ID card (DNI) and a PDF containing:

-Title of the project/series/artwork.
-Project rationale (up to 2000 characters).
-Specifications of the media and techniques used, production year.

We look forward to receiving your proposals!

The Latin America's Paris

Buenos Aires is Argentine Republic's capital city. With 15,000,000 inhabitants, it is one of the largest cities in Latin America and one of the 10 most populous urban centers in the world. Its cosmopolitan and urban character vibrates to the rhythm of a great cultural offer that includes monuments, churches, museums, art galleries, opera, music and theaters; squares, parks and gardens with old groves; characteristic neighborhoods; large shopping centers and fairs. Here we also find a very good lodging facilities, with accommodation ranging from hostels to five-star hotels of the main international chains. Buenos Aires also show off about its variety of restaurants with all the cuisines of the world, as well as to have cafes and flower kiosks on every corner.

A neighborhood founded on the Jesuit farms in the 17th century

We are located in Colegiales neighborhood where the tree-lined streets, some of which still have their original cobblestones, invite you to walk. Although the apartment buildings advance, low houses still predominate. It is a district of the city where about 20 TV production companies, design studios, artist workshops and the Rock&Pop radio have been located. The neighborhood also has six squares, one of which pays homage to Mafalda, the Flea Market, shops, restaurants and cafes like its neighboring Barrios de Palermo and Belgrano, with which it limits.
