Impressions of La Puna
Artists in dialogue
03.05.23
The artworks in the exhibition reflect Elizabeth Haigh and Karen Landt-Isley’s experience of travelling for 2 weeks through the La Puna region in North West Argentina. A love of nature and the physical immersion in this vast and enigmatic landscape captivated their emotions. A predominantly subtle colour palette of soft muted tones, with hints of browns from the iron rich soil contrasts with charcoal grey and blacks of volcanic rock.
The soft white sands of El Peñón, the hard encrusted salt forms of Gos Campo, accompanied by delicate cloud formations throughout the journey are some of the textures observed and experienced. Elizabeth created her impression of La Puna through sewing, embossing, carborundum and monotype. Karen created her impression through monotypes onto fabric and paper.
The installation with exhibited at the Espacio Dialogo to provide intimacy, to share with the public their feelings and to stir curiosity.
