Eric Weinstein
Starting In Freedom, Ending in The Unknown

20.10.25 07.11.25

Based in Chicago, Eric Weinstein works with painting and drawing while running a full-time business. Between the pace of work and the intensity of daily life, he carves out a space for a practice that moves from the unconscious — a zone where automatic gesture, intuition, and emotional undercurrents take the lead.

Eric arrived at Proyecto´ace with only himself and a handful of tools, leaving behind expectations, obligations, and conditions. In that intentional simplicity, he found room to explore what it means to create freely, to learn new skills, and to immerse himself in an environment where collaboration is part of the atmosphere. During his time at ´ace, Eric learned the drypoint technique for printmaking, thus turning his drawings into graphic editions for the first time. In the workshop, he produced editions on paper of his expressive—sometimes humorous—drawings, where symbols recur like fragments of a private mythology: clocks, doors, windows, ladders, masks. These motifs, combined with human forms, built a visual language that probed his experience of masculinity in all its tension, tenderness, and complexity. The result was a body of work where familiar shapes are rearranged into new constellations, revealing what the conscious mind rarely articulates.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am not an artist who renders their world as it is seen, but instead creates art that is an automatic expression of the subconscious interaction of emotions, my roles/personas as well as the environment or space in which I live. The work that appears on the page or canvas is rendered in familiar and new forms and arrangements: creating a visual language of symbolic objects (clocks, doors, windows, ladders, masks, etc.) and human forms (husband, lover, father, and son) that are expressions of my masculinity.

The Latin America's Paris

Buenos Aires is Argentine Republic's capital city. With 15,000,000 inhabitants, it is one of the largest cities in Latin America and one of the 10 most populous urban centers in the world. Its cosmopolitan and urban character vibrates to the rhythm of a great cultural offer that includes monuments, churches, museums, art galleries, opera, music and theaters; squares, parks and gardens with old groves; characteristic neighborhoods; large shopping centers and fairs. Here we also find a very good lodging facilities, with accommodation ranging from hostels to five-star hotels of the main international chains. Buenos Aires also show off about its variety of restaurants with all the cuisines of the world, as well as to have cafes and flower kiosks on every corner.

A neighborhood founded on the Jesuit farms in the 17th century

We are located in Colegiales neighborhood where the tree-lined streets, some of which still have their original cobblestones, invite you to walk. Although the apartment buildings advance, low houses still predominate. It is a district of the city where about 20 TV production companies, design studios, artist workshops and the Rock&Pop radio have been located. The neighborhood also has six squares, one of which pays homage to Mafalda, the Flea Market, shops, restaurants and cafes like its neighboring Barrios de Palermo and Belgrano, with which it limits.
