Wind

30.05.18 29.06.18

Ezequiel Montero Swinnen is a visual artist, photographer, designer and university professor, mainly working in photography, video, installation and drawing. He was invited to exhibit works from his  series Wind within the ´aceNITE of May 30th, 2018. A series of works in digital photography that refers to one of those natural elements that we can feel but not grasp, that we can make intelligible but not close it in fixed forms, we can only delineate, underline and highlight wind through putting it in relation with other objects.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Most of my works are derived from the impressions that I get from observing nature. The sky, the horizon, the birds, the clouds, the sun, the wind, the flowers, the stars. There is a dynamic that seems magical in all that, I perceive it as simple and sacred at the same time. Something that seems to be far beyond the duality of the human mind. Sometimes, everything that seems static is incredibly mobile, or what is mobile seems to be nailed to the eternity of a fixed point. I like to observe the dance that sustains the tension of the opposites. And gravity, magnetism, which is the orbit that connects them. I am interested in creating a space in which paradoxes can be reconciled, in which the spirit can be perceived with body or light matter in the extreme. I am especially attracted to the possibility of juxtaposing linear time with cyclic time, instant with duration, and observing what happens. As the empty may seem full or full, very empty.

In general, I work a lot with the air. I believe that in the air, and with the wind, the elements behave in uncertain but genuine ways: they fly, float, fall, collide, dance, work as suspended, sculptural, silent and slow devices. I am interested in experiencing movement in the timeless dimension. The idea of building an infinite present, absent from singular memory. Without much context in sight, there is always a great sense of nakedness linked to emptiness.

Many times dreams also inspire me. There, ordinary things connect in an extraordinary way. Anything is possible in the logic of dreams. The interesting thing is that what seems to have no meaning at first glance, then always has, surprisingly. For me, they are living, enigmatic, mysterious symbols, they keep moving and saying new things all the time. Like little diamonds in movement. I like to see my own work that way.

The Latin America's Paris

Buenos Aires is Argentine Republic's capital city. With 15,000,000 inhabitants, it is one of the largest cities in Latin America and one of the 10 most populous urban centers in the world. Its cosmopolitan and urban character vibrates to the rhythm of a great cultural offer that includes monuments, churches, museums, art galleries, opera, music and theaters; squares, parks and gardens with old groves; characteristic neighborhoods; large shopping centers and fairs. Here we also find a very good lodging facilities, with accommodation ranging from hostels to five-star hotels of the main international chains. Buenos Aires also show off about its variety of restaurants with all the cuisines of the world, as well as to have cafes and flower kiosks on every corner.

A neighborhood founded on the Jesuit farms in the 17th century

We are located in Colegiales neighborhood where the tree-lined streets, some of which still have their original cobblestones, invite you to walk. Although the apartment buildings advance, low houses still predominate. It is a district of the city where about 20 TV production companies, design studios, artist workshops and the Rock&Pop radio have been located. The neighborhood also has six squares, one of which pays homage to Mafalda, the Flea Market, shops, restaurants and cafes like its neighboring Barrios de Palermo and Belgrano, with which it limits.
