Red QUINCHO

Between March 28 and 30, QUINCHO, the Argentine Network of Artistic Residencies of which ‘ace is a founding member, moved institutionally to the city of Córdoba for its annual meeting, held with the support of the Córdoba Culture Agency. On behalf of Fundación ‘ace, its Executive Coordinator, Andrés Knob, traveled to Córdoba.

In its fourth meeting, this activity is proposed since 2021 as a working space for the members of the Network, with the aim of rethinking collaborative practices, generating new alliances and reaching consensus to consolidate the work of the network in the long term. As part of the program of activities, on Friday, March 28 at 5pm, members of the cultural ecosystem of Cordoba were invited to the Evita Museum-Palacio Ferreyra to meet the Network’s residencies and their managers. Then, on Saturday, March 29, the members of the Network had a day of intense work at Documenta-Tres Salas. And on Sunday, March 30, the group moved to Unquillo to have their last day of work and conversation at Casa Estudio B’atz.

During the two days of work, participants made several presentations and group activities of exchange that served to deepen the understanding and connection, as well as opened the possibility of getting to know each other among the different members of the network. This meeting was also a space to reflect on fundamental challenges such as economic sustainability, effective management of the residences and the importance of effective communication. Strategies to improve inter-institutional collaboration were discussed and agreed upon, and the need to promote sustainable practices that respect the environment and cultural heritage was emphasized.

We celebrate this meeting of QUINCHO, the Argentine Network of Artistic Residencies, in order to continue building an increasingly robust cultural and artistic ecosystem at the federal level, giving visibility and spaces for growth to the field of art residencies.

The Latin America's Paris

Buenos Aires is Argentine Republic's capital city. With 15,000,000 inhabitants, it is one of the largest cities in Latin America and one of the 10 most populous urban centers in the world. Its cosmopolitan and urban character vibrates to the rhythm of a great cultural offer that includes monuments, churches, museums, art galleries, opera, music and theaters; squares, parks and gardens with old groves; characteristic neighborhoods; large shopping centers and fairs. Here we also find a very good lodging facilities, with accommodation ranging from hostels to five-star hotels of the main international chains. Buenos Aires also show off about its variety of restaurants with all the cuisines of the world, as well as to have cafes and flower kiosks on every corner.

A neighborhood founded on the Jesuit farms in the 17th century

We are located in Colegiales neighborhood where the tree-lined streets, some of which still have their original cobblestones, invite you to walk. Although the apartment buildings advance, low houses still predominate. It is a district of the city where about 20 TV production companies, design studios, artist workshops and the Rock&Pop radio have been located. The neighborhood also has six squares, one of which pays homage to Mafalda, the Flea Market, shops, restaurants and cafes like its neighboring Barrios de Palermo and Belgrano, with which it limits.
