Artist Books

In November ´ace will receive the complete exhibition of artist books MIMB I and II. MIMB (Monumental Ideas in Miniature Books) was started in 2009 by artist and professor Hui-Chi Ying (Taipei, Taiwan, 1956), curator and organizer, and Alicia Candiani as coordinator of the international section.  More than 250 miniature artist's books will be on display in 'ace during the months of November and December. After the exhibition they will be donated to the Fundación´ace Art Collection.

About MIMB

Professor, Hui-Chu Ying, the Myers School of Art, University of Akron, USA and Director of ´ace, Alicia Candiani from Buenos Aires Argentina coordinated a traveling exhibition for the Southern Graphics Councils International Conference 2009 at Columbia College Chicago. Artists were invited to produce at least 6 books for an edition, focused the theme: Monumental Ideas in Miniature Books(MIMB). Artists contributed 5 of their edition, which will allow conducting a traveling exhibition simultaneously from 2009 to 2012. Travel to total 58 national and international venues. At end of traveling exhibition, all MIMB books will go to 5 educational institutions’ permanent collection both nationally and internationally. A website mimb.org and catalogue was collaboration by faculties and students of Myers School of Art, University of Akron.

The first MIMB I put together 142 books by 144 artists  from  the United States, Finland, Sweden, Argentina, Pakistan, Mexico, Canada, Korea, China, Japan, Italy, and Spainas well as a  traveling exhibition has been shown by 46 institutions in USA and 12 international institutions. 106 artists participated of MIMB II from the United States,  India, Pakistan, Germany, China, Japan, Canada, Spain and it is on the process for traveling exhibition from 2011 to 2015. Currently, MIMB II has 26 educational institutions and 8 international institutions committed to show, including ´ace in Buenos Aires.

All the MIMB I will Go Permanent Collection after the Traveling Exhibition:   First edition: Southern Graphics Council Archives.   Second edition: Columbia College’s permanent collection.   Third edition: The University of Akron.   Fourth edition: ´ace in Argentina.   Fifth edition: International permanent collection.
