Artist Statement

My work arises from the observation and interpretation of the world around me and the exploration of color upon its infinite possibilities. The drive between reflection and creation, contention and fluidity, outlines the path I choose to transit. Life elicits questions and art becomes a way to generate dialogues. The scope of the body, the social spheres and the transversalities between art, science and technology run through these questions, which materialize in different visual languages. An attempt to generate new perspectives of what’s real.

Implementing geometry as a metaphor for social regime, I seek to delve into the biological, technological and social transversalities that interfere in the development of individual´s subjectivity. The subjective constitutes the basis for existence, the content that defines us, a dynamic entity through which we think, dream, feel, desire, experiment the world that surrounds us. Is there a possibility for the development of subjectivity inside the current parameters for a social regime? The construction of a dialogue emerges around such question.

Geometry, precise and delimited figures, symbolize the morphology upon which social systems are structured and built. Do limits contain, give structure or, in exchange, restrict and generate alienation? Does overflow present fluidity and a possibility for change or, on the contrary, condemns us to live in a schizophrenic fluidity? Does the crack/fissure/split develop into a fertile territory to cultivate an equilibrium, or, into an arid zone with irreparable fissures/clefts? An inquiry into the circumstantial clash between limit and overflow.
In our present day/ in our contemporality, the rise of the visual and the proliferation of images establish an era of visuality. Technology becomes an elemental factor of the socio-cultural formation of individuals Does the possibility to develop subjectivity exists inside the technological sphere we are immersed in?
Can cracks be generated to become fertile ground in the terrain of mass-media standardization spread by our screens? Does technology´s geometrical thinking and its cerebellum of data storage plates limit individual´s synapsis?
