Rediscovering

21.09.2015 to 09.10.2015

Renowned Pittsburgh (USA) artist and educator, Kenneth Batista is in residence at Proyecto´ ace during September and October 2015.

His works in painting study the  iconographic image in landscapes ranging from Pittsburgh's Frick Park to the Masai Mara in Kenya to Komodo Island in the Indian Ocean. Using digital technology to analyze color and movement and to draft a pixilated composition, Batista then paints the generated information with high attention to traditional craftsmanship. During his time in ´ace the artist adapted his paintings through the rediscovery of  printmaking and  an exploration of digital photography. He drew inspiration from the Buenos Aires landscape, in particular from the traditional Argentinean Ombú tree.

Kenneth is currently an Associate Professor in the Studio Arts Department at the University of Pittsburgh as well as an Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies in the School of Arts & Sciences.  He has exhibited his work throughout the United States and is represented in public and private collections. In addition to painting, he also produces and hosts a weekly radio program dedicated to traditional music.
