Kadija de Paula received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Canada, and an MBA (Master of Business Administration) in Cultural Management from the Schulich School of Business at York University, also in Toronto, for which her research focused on cultural policies as a means of international relations in Latin America.
Since October 2011 Kadija is the manager and mediator of residencias_en_red [Iberoamerica], in Colombia Kadija was an artist in residence at Casa Tres Patios and Taller 7, Medellín; Residencial en la Tierra, Armenia; Lugar a Dudas, Cali y Laagencia, Bogotá. Since February 2012 Kadija is an artist in residence at CRAC Valparaíso, Chile.

Kadija de Paula is a visual artist and arts administrator with over nine years of experience working with artists and cultural organizations in Canada, USA, Brazil, Colombia and Chile, including Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography, The Art Gallery of Ontario and the Ontario Arts Council in Toronto; the Centro Cultural São Paulo, Brazil; and Walker International Communications Group in New York. Passionate about culture as a tool for innovation and social change, she has a strong interest in building communities that work through collaboration.
residencias_en_red [iberoamérica] is an Ibero American platform of spaces working with research, production and exhibition of contemporary art and culture, connected particularly through its residency programs. It brings together different formats of art residencies and enhances its diversity. It is formed by private or public-private initiatives with various administrative and legal structures. The network was created in 2008 through an aspiration for Latin American integration and a desire for collaboration and collective work among its members so to strengthen representation and communication at the micro and macro level of international cultural policy. In its three years of existence residencias_en_red [Latin America] has already completed more than 60 exchange projects, 16 residencies for management, 39 artist residencies, two residencies for critics and curators, three publications and two meetings with representatives of its 27 members.
ABOUT THE RESIDENCY
During her mini-residence of two weeks in Buenos Aires, Kadija de Paula, manager in residency of residencias_en_red [iberoamerica] had the opportunity to meet with representatives of ‘ace, Centro Rural de Arte, Kiosko and Office # 1, four member spaces of residencias_en_red, in addition to meeting with other institutions and arts collectives in Buenos Aires and La Plata, including: Ala Plastica, Residencias URRA, Fundación León Ferrari, Meridión AC Galeía y Residencia, CCEBA, Basurama, CHELA, Fundación Proa , La Fabriquera, La Grieta, Residencia Corazón and A77. On May 20 at arteBA, Kadija spoke of her experience as manager in residency of residencias_en_red [Latin America] and the experimental management model proposed by the network in a talk about the artist residency in the context of contemporary Latin American art.
