Color and line exploration

06.03.2017 to 31.03.2017

Gina Kukulski is an artist dedicated specifically in photography. In her works she achieves a very contemporary image with infinite quotations to still life from different periods of western art history.
During her time in 'ace she will continue her line of work but will add particular elements from Buenos Aires, both organic as leaves or flowers, and objects from our culture.

Through the use of line and color, I am able to create balanced and harmonious still life pieces. As a digital still life photographer, I take the lessons I learned as a painter and apply it to my work. Creating a careful composition until it is just right, and experimenting with color theory have become an important part of my process.
I find inspiration wherever I am working: from the subdue colors of a Michigan winter, to the fascinating compositions within structures in Argentina, to the vibrant colors of Texas. Each photograph has a journey of its own.
I often use found objects within the area that I am working in, as well as vegetation that is native to the area. I am able to record the sights and colors around me, and interpret it to still life. Each composition is mindfully constructed with objects, to create a balance of organic and inorganic lines, in addition to a careful eye for color.
