CENTRO ARGENTINO DE CARTOGRAFIA

"Cartographies" is a video exhibition organized by ' ace in conjunction with the Argentine Center of Cartography to celebrate its 56th Anniversary during the month of November 2011. This is an open call to Latin American artists, inviting them to present works that explore the cartographic representations in visual art from multiple perspectives. We attempt to explore how the eyes of contemporary artists make the mapping goes beyond the mere literal representation of a territory. We also talked about identity, trace, memory, testimony, or imagined mental maps and multiple meanings that are opened from its connection with art.



"Cartographies" is part of a project initiated in 2008 which is part of our mission to give visibility to the Argentine and Latin American artists and to promote both crossovers with artists in residence at’ace as well as between different artistic practices. Selected artists will participate with their works in digital format in the 'ace nite on Wednesday November 9th, together with the opening of the mega international exhibition of miniature artist books MIMB I & II  that acts as metaphor / map of diverse cultural identities.
