Travelling exhibition

23.10.2011 to 20.11.2011

On October 23 will open the first venue of a travelling exhibition that will take the Self-portraits Project to the places that it was developed during the last five  years.  It will be displayed at the Maison de la Culture / Exhibition Centre Raymond-Lasnier of the city of Trois Rivieres in Quebec, Canada.
The Self-Portraits Project is a Alicia Candiani’s original idea and ´ace’s international endeavor. This collaborative international venture has been a work in progress from 2006, involving almost 100 artists, 6 countries, artist from 11 different nationalities who speak 5 languages and 8 major art institutions around the world.

Alicia Candiani travelled to Trois Rivieres to curate the exhibition. She created a mural exploring the diversity of the image through which the artists are represented with the aim to bring artists’ own images together from across races, ages, gender and places within the tradition and innovation of contemporary printmaking. In this way the exhibition was organized in groups of artists that explore the same issues: POLITICAL/ IDENTITIES/ DREAMLAND/ TERRITORIES/ LANGUAGES / IRONIES / MISE EN SCENE / WOUNDS and DISPLACEMENTS.
